Prof. Ashley. Morris-Dias earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from Rutgers University,  a Master’s degree in Human Behavior and Organizational Psychology and a 2nd master’s degree in Counseling Education, both from Kean University. She is currently a doctoral candidate in the Kean University’s Counseling and Supervision Ph.D. program.  She is as NJ licensed professional counselor, nationally certified counselor and approved clinical supervisor (ACS).  Mrs. Morris-Dias has 13 years’ experience in clinical mental health counseling of adults, adolescents, and families, in both individual and group therapy. She has worked in various mental health settings including acute partial hospital programs, school-based programs, and currently provides services at Be Well Counseling, LLC.

Her current research focuses on African American women and help seeking behaviors. Other research has focused on the mental health and wellbeing of minority women and multicultural influences in counseling. She currently volunteers as a team leader in the Rutgers University Women’s Health Initiative.  Mrs. Morris-Dias has presented at the American Counseling Association (ACA), New York Chapter Annual conference and at Virginia Tech 8th Annual Faculty Women of Color in the Academy National Conference. Her topics has been racialized sexual harassment and the intersectionality of race and gender of African American women. She also co-presented in the 2020 NJCA State Virtual Conference on clients’ cultural symbols, shields/filters & spirit in response to cultural oppression. Prof. Morris-Dias is devoted to diversifying counseling research to improve the mental and physical wellbeing of clients and creating opportunities for growth and learning for future counselors and counselor educators.
